Today, we've announced that XPO Logistics, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable end-to-end logistics solutions across Europe, has now become the core transport provider for PepsiCo UK across England and Wales.
The partnership with XPO Logisitcs will operate across all four of our main distribution sites in Leicester, Lutterworth, Coventry and Warrington, helping to distribute our popular snacks brands like Walkers and Doritos to customers across the UK. We’ve chosen XPO for their scale, expertise and shared ambition to deliver a positive impact for customers, the supply chain, and the planet.
As part of this partnership, we’re introducing Mercedes-Benz eActros electric trucks into our UK fleet. These vehicles will replace over 1 million kilometres of diesel transport annually, cutting more than 1,200 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year, a critical step on the road to net zero by 2050.
XPO Logisitcs is also equipping us with its advanced CO₂ reporting dashboard, powered by real-time data and AI. This tool will help us track emissions, plan smarter, and make more informed decisions across our logistics network.
Through initiatives with Pollock (Scotrans) Ltd., AB Texel and now XPO Logistics, we're continuing to use Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a renewable diesel alternative made from used cooking oil and waste fats to fuel parts of our transport network. Combined these partnerships are helping to power over 14 million kilometres of journeys annually using HVO fuel and are expected to save more than 16,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
This partnership forms part of our ongoing efforts to drive positive action for the planet and people through our PepsiCo Positive (pep+ agenda). Launched in 2021, pep+ is PepsiCo’s end-to-end sustainability and business strategy. It’s a framework that drives action across agriculture, supply chains, product portfolios, and communities.
Andrew Smethurst, UK Logistics Director, PepsiCo, said: “XPO Logistics has shown itself to be the ideal partner to help advance our PepsiCo Positive ambition. From their industry-leading sustainability credentials to a strong safety culture and transparent operational model, their team has consistently delivered innovation and value. This new partnership will play a vital role in reducing our logistics emissions as we move iconic products like Walkers crisps and Doritos to our customers across the UK.”
Dan Myers, Managing Director of XPO Logistics UK and Ireland, added: “Sustainability is in our DNA. We are proud to partner with PepsiCo on this journey, combining investment in electric mobility with advanced technology and operational excellence. Our shared ambition goes beyond compliance, it’s about transformation. I believe this is just the beginning of what we can achieve together.”
Heiko Selzam, Managing Director, Daimler Truck UK, said: “We are very proud to strengthen our partnership further with XPO Logistics with this order of our award-winning eActros 600s for the PepsiCo partnership. This commitment underscores the recognition of both companies of the critical role these vehicles will play in achieving their sustainability goals. Following extensive collaboration, this order firmly establishes the eActros 600 as a leading solution in the electric truck market. We are looking forward to seeing these trucks operational from 1 August.”
