We've launched new compact packaging for some of our most popular snacks.
The new design means a 30% reduction in outer packaging across all six and 12 multipacks of Monster Munch, Wotsits, French Fries, Squares and Cheetos. This follows our previous move to introduce compact packaging designs across six-packs of Walkers and Quavers.
To implement this, we've made a multimillion-pound investment to refit our Skelmersdale and Coventry factories with specialist machinery and updated production lines.
Alex Brittain, Senior Director Commercial Snacks, PepsiCo UK & Ireland said: “This is an important step forward, as we seek to reduce our packaging footprint; meeting the demands and expectations of our consumers. Meanwhile, we are continuing to encourage participation in our recycling scheme and working hard to reinvent our packaging to make it recyclable, compostable or biodegradable as quickly as possible.”
The new compact packaging for Monster Munch and Wotsits multipacks has already hit the shelves. All other our other snacks brands, including French Fries, Squares and Cheetos, will be nationwide by September 2019.
The packaging can still be recycled as part of our crisp packet recycling scheme, which has already seen more than three million crisp packets collected for recycling. More than 12,000 public locations have signed up to collect used crisp packets, making it the largest and fastest growing scheme of its kind.
