Stakeholder engagement and public policy

The external world - changing consumer preferences, new scientific developments, public policy and regulation - profoundly affects our business. Nowhere is this more true than on nutrition, health and wellness.

Effective stakeholder engagement is the only way for our business to identify emerging concerns and understand the health and nutrition debate.

Our stakeholder and public policy pledges:

  • Quaker and Tropicana will be donated to breakfast clubs in deprived areas, serving 10,000 children every day by 2012.
  • Support the Government's Change4Life campaign to tackle obesity, by promoting healthy breakfasts, and through a non-branded campaign featuring our sports stars.
  • We will consult stakeholders proactively, and disclose how their feedback influences our decision-making.
  • Disclose our memberships of trade associations, and our partnerships with think-tanks or research institutes.
  • Work with government, and other stakeholders, to deliver pledges on portion sizes and retail availability of healthier products.
  • Work with NGOs, think-tanks and others in the food industry to encourage improved health reporting and transparency.
  • Engage with government, and other stakeholders, to identify greater R&D support for investment in public health.
