Walkers champions retailers to support local communities

Retailer Champions initiative launched by Walkers.

Walkers, the UK's No. 1 crisps and snacks manufacturer, is proud to launch its exciting Retailer Champions initiative. Developed to showcase and reward impulse retailers who are following leading category advice and growing their sales of Crisps & Snacks, Walkers Retailer Champions gives independent retailers the chance to receive a share of £11,000 to donate to local community projects, and a chance to win free stock for their stores.

Every month between April and September 2009, two retailers will be nominated by Walkers as stores of the month. Each winner will receive £500 to donate to a local charity or community project of their choice.

As well as monthly rewards, two overall winners will be announced later this year and each receive an additional £2,500 to donate to their local community.

To take part, all retailers need to do is show Walkers how they have implemented the category advice and grown their sales. Using sales data, photos and any other supporting information, retailers should demonstrate the following:

1. Actions taken from the advice given
2. Changes made in-store (with before and after pictures to showing the improved the layout/range in store)
3. How sales have been impacted (where possible sales data such as epos should be provided)

The Walkers Retailer Champions donation can be used to support a wide variety of charitable or local community projects and good causes. Here are just a few examples that retailers might like to consider:

• Funding for local charities and good causes such as hospitals, hospices or air ambulance
• Building a play area
• Painting a classroom or community centre
• Creating a garden area or clearing a common
• Learning support materials and books for schools

Retailers can also involve their customers by asking them to give suggestions for local donations.

Walkers is also giving 5 lucky retailers the chance to win a share of 25 cases of Walkers product every month for 6 months. Retailers can post their entries to the same Freepost address and be entered into the draw. Full details are available on the website.
