Recommendations for fat intake

The Government has established recommendations for fat intake

These values are the percentages of energy recommended to come from a fat source per day. They are based on a diet without alcohol. If alcohol is consumed, the recommended amounts are reduced slightly, to compensate for the increase in energy from an alcohol source.

  • Total Fat 35%
  • Saturated Fat 11%
  • Monounsaturated Fat 13%
  • Polyunsaturated Fat 6.5%
  • Trans Fatty Acids 2%
