PepsiCo today announced that it has named Richard Evans, currently General Manager of Walkers Snack Foods, as President, PepsiCo UK and Ireland, with immediate effect. Evans succeeds Salman Amin, who, after four years of successfully building the company's UK and Ireland business, has been promoted to the role of Executive Vice President - PepsiCo Sales and Marketing, based in New York.
Richard Evans has been General Manager of Walkers Snack Foods since December 2007 and since joining PepsiCo in 1990 has built an impressive track record across a range of products, markets and operating models.
As President of PepsiCo UK & Ireland (PIUK), Evans will be responsible for a broad portfolio of snack foods (Walkers), breakfast cereals (Quaker), fruit juices and smoothies (Tropicana and Copella). PIUK employs over 5,500 people in 11 sites nationwide. These include the largest crisp manufacturing plant in the world located in Leicester, the Quaker Oats factory at Cupar in Scotland, and Copella apple juice bottled at Boxford in Suffolk.
PepsiCo CEO, Indra Nooyi comments: "Richard Evans has great depth of experience with PepsiCo and has demonstrated excellent results as GM of Walkers, helping the business reach its highest- ever market share whilst transforming the portfolio to broaden its health credentials and deepen its commitment to environmental sustainability."
Richard Evans will be based at PepsiCo UK head office in Theale and will report to Zein Abdalla, President of PepsiCo Europe Division.
Evans succeeds Salman Amin, who has been at the helm of PepsiCo UK & Ireland for four years, during which time he has reversed the fortunes of the UK PepsiCo business with a strategy that included improving the health credentials across the portfolio (including Walkers Crisps, Tropicana and Quaker), investing behind its market leading brands and building and developing its talent.
In his new role as Executive Vice President - PepsiCo Sales and Marketing, Amin will drive an integrated sales and marketing strategy with key global customers.
Nooyi comments: "Salman is a proven PepsiCo leader who has delivered exceptional results. He has transformed our UK portfolio, strengthened our brands, developed a stable of great talent and strategically positioned our business for growth.
"In a marketplace where global brands are increasingly vital, and more closely linked sales and marketing capabilities define future success, Salman is ideally suited to take this newly created and critical role."
Amin will be based in New York, and will report to PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi on global brands and marketing responsibilities, and to John Compton, CEO of PepsiCo Americas Foods, on PepsiCo Customer Team accountabilities.
