At PepsiCo UK, we are committed to reducing our impact on global warming and to reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases. We have already reduced the amount of energy per kg we use in production by 33% between 2000 and 2006, and by a further 4.3% in 2007. We have a commitment to use only energy from renewable sources within fifteen years. We have already done a lot to reduce our carbon footprint. What is PepsiCo UK's commitment to reduce waste?

At PepsiCo UK, we are committed to reducing waste, which is why we have pledged to reduce our waste-to-landfill by 20% in 2008.

All of our virgin packaging, for example misprints and pre-production waste, is recycled. This factory waste is turned into plastic pellets which are used for garden furniture and flower pots. We have pledged to make all our packaging to be renewable, recyclable and degradable within 10 years.

We have a wide range of healthy products, including Tropicana and Copella. Pepsi Max, the first full-flavour no sugar cola, Gatorade, 7Up Free, Snack A Jacks, SunBites, Quaker Oats and Walkers Baked.

We have taken great steps to reformulate our products to further improve their nutritional content. We have reduced the salt and saturated fat in Walkers Crisps to make them better for you and introduced a new sugar-free variety of 7Up.

We believe in informing consumers to enable our consumers to make an informed decision about their diet and we also know the importance of a varied and balanced diet and healthy lifestyle. The GDA labelling scheme, which is on the front of all of our products considers each product within a broad nutritional context. If GDA labelling is on every product that a person consumes in a day, they will know exactly how much of each major food group they have eaten which is essential for a varied and balanced diet and good nutrition.

Our main priority is that our products are as safe and as healthy as possible for our consumers. We only use additives that have been certified as safe to use by the government.
